Government promotes SMEs broadband connection vouchers scheme

The Government this week launched a renewed push to raise awareness of the benefits of superfast broadband and the voucher scheme that is available to help businesses boost their digital connectivity.

DCMS SME VouchersThe grants, of up to £3000, are available to SMEs who are based in the 22 Super Connected Cities* to cover the cost of installing or upgrading their broadband connection. More information on how to apply is available at: https://www.connectionvouchers.co.uk/

Encouragingly this is being driven by both the Department for Culture, Media and Sport as well as the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills under the ‘Business is Great’ banner, with much of the focus on the commercial advantages that superfast broadband gives to businesses.  This push comes after a streamlining of the application process to make it easier for SMEs to make applications to the fund which closes next year.

The BSG will be doing more work on connectivity needs of SMEs in the coming months.

*The cities are; Aberdeen, Belfast, Birmingham, Brighton and Hove, Bristol, Cambridge, Cardiff, Coventry, Derby, Derry/Londonderry, Edinburgh, Leeds and Bradford, Liverpool, London, Manchester, Newcastle, Newport, Nottingham, Oxford, Perth, Portsmouth, Salford, and York
