Project Gigabit: Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Public Review

As part of Project Gigabit, Building Digital UK (BDUK) is consulting on a new procurement to extend the coverage of gigabit-capable broadband across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly in South West England. BDUK is requesting information and supporting evidence on gigabit-capable broadband infrastructure within the Cornwall and Isles of Scilly intervention area and would like to hear from all relevant stakeholders in relation to the target intervention area found in the Request For Information document.

This follows BDUK’s Open Market Review (OMR) in March 2021 which covered Phase 1b and Cornwall, with the aim of understanding from suppliers if there were any current or planned investment over the next three years in broadband infrastructure. The OMR indicated that planned commercial coverage for gigabit-capable broadband would reach approximately 96,019 premises within the next 3 years, and would therefore leave the remaining 206,622 premises without access to gigabit-capable broadband.

The review runs until 16th August 2021.
