The policy workstream aims to improve the evidence base about the relevance and importance of next generation broadband to the UK economy and society, in order to aid policy and regulatory decision-making.

Following the completion of the government-commissioned independent review of broadband, led by Francesco Caio (view the final report), the BSG is now focusing on supporting the implementation of the review's recommendations, pending the government response to the Review. more>>

The BSG will also be supporting the government's recently-announced Digital Britain Report process, as set out by BSG Chairman Kip Meek in his speech to the BSG's Autmun Reception. more>>

Previous areas of focus for this workstream have included:

  • Researching the economic and social value of next generation broadband more>>
  • Undertaking a cost modelling exercise to explore the costs of FTTC and FTTH deployment in the UK, as part of the Caio Review more>>
