The DRM working group was set up in July 2002 to bring together relevant players in the UK industry with the DTI. The DTI agreed with the BSG that DRM warranted a dedicated resource and recruited a secondee from industry to help address the issues and provide an active link with other parallel initiatives in the UK, Europe and elsewhere.

The working group had their last meeting in June as the Group have just published their DRM report: 'DIGITAL RIGHTS MANAGEMENT - MISSING LINKS IN THE BROADBAND VALUE CHAIN. A critical snapshot of the DRM debate and the ongoing quest for solutions'.

The report serves to improve general knowledge and understanding of DRM and of the key issues related to its development and deployment. It is also a valuable information resource for a wide range of content providers and content service providers. The report identifies 11 key recommendations that must be addressed for the UK to become a global leader in the implementation of a globally accepted DRM platform.
