Terms of Reference

The focus of the 'Broadband Promotion' Working Group is to work collaboratively with government on the delivery of Recommendation 8 of the BSG November 2001 Report - raising awareness and promoting the benefits of Broadband.
 
The Working group will:
  1. Develop, agree and implement an action plan for collaborative promotion and awareness raising for consumers and SMEs;
  2. Provide advice and industry support in the development of the Government's web-based guide to broadband availability, and Oftel's information to consumers;
  3. Agree a range of support measures and joint action plans with UK Online for Business.

In the development and implementation of plans in these three areas the Working Group will consider:

    1. Ways in which to illustrate and promote the benefits of broadband;
    2. How to change the tone of public debate on broadband from negative to positive;
    3. The development of case studies and networking events;
    4. Promotion to SMEs and consumers as well as to key public sector departments, people and organisations.
Issues to address:
  • Articulation of key messages
  • Identification of speaking opportunities
  • Development of user case studies
  • Development of a broadband service primer (issues include coverage maps, quality of service measurement/standards etc)
