BSG launch report into small business connectivity requirements

The Broadband Stakeholder Group (BSG) will launch a report undertaken by Communications Chambers into the connectivity requirements of small businesses on 2 September.

Utilising the methodology that underpinned our study into household demand for bandwidth, the report and model seek to capture the rich diversity of small businesses (1 to 49 employees) and their differing bandwidth, both upstream and downstream, requirements.

Small businesses are a key part of the economic recovery yet their connectivity needs – essential to enabling greater productivity – are not well understood. The model analyses 2450 premises types, ranging from a 1 person food manufacturer to a 49 person computer software business.

Understandably, the bandwidth requirements of each reflects the broad and diverse make-up of the small business sector.  This has important implications for current and future network deployments by both the private and public sector.
